About the Organization
First Responders Children’s Foundation is a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting the children and families of first responders through scholarships, mental health programs, emergency assistance, and community engagement. With nearly 25 years of impact, the Foundation partners with law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical personnel, and community leaders—as well as corporate, philanthropic, and government partners—to strengthen those who serve on the front lines.

Position Summary
The Marketing Assistant is an integral member of the Marketing & Communications team, supporting the day-to-day execution of campaigns, content, and departmental operations. This role is ideal for a highly organized, creative, and curious marketer early in their career who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow.

You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities—whether that’s supporting a campaign launch, organizing digital assets, coordinating with external partners, or helping capture and share stories from the field.

Key Responsibilities:
Department & Campaign Support

  • Assist in the efficient execution of integrated marketing campaigns across direct mail, print, radio, digital, and social platforms with an eye toward maintaining brand consistency.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for the Marketing & Communications department, including:
  • Managing meetings, creating agendas, taking notes, and following up on action items
  • Supporting coordination and communication with external consultants, agencies, and vendors.
  • Assisting with cross-department coordination to ensure alignment and timely delivery of materials.
  • Support department budget administration, including PO creation, invoice entry, and tracking.
  • Assist with additional projects and tasks as directed by the Chief Strategy, Marketing & Communications Officer.

Social Media, Content & Digital Engagement

  • Help create, manage, and publish content for social media channels and the Foundation website.
  • Monitor social media channels, track engagement, and suggest creative ways to grow our audience.
  • Support influencer-related initiatives by helping identify, organize, and track potential influencer partnerships and collaborations.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital and social content.

 Data, Organization & Analytics

  • Support marketing analytics by gathering data, preparing reports, and helping measure campaign performance.
  • Maintain and update select non-technical website pages to ensure accurate and current information.
  • Manage and organize digital assets (photos, videos, creative files) to ensure accessibility and consistency.
  • Distribute photo upload links to collect content from staff at field events.
  • Collect, organize, and file photos in shared digital systems.
  • Maintain an online catalog of media coverage, press placements, and client testimonials.

Event & Field Support

  • Provide marketing support for key Foundation events and initiatives, including:
  • 25th Anniversary Gala (May 16)
  • National First Responders Day (October 28)
  • Thanksgiving Day Parade Celebration (November 26)
  • Assist with content collection, coordination, and on-site support as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in a nonprofit, agency, startup, or in-house marketing environment.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills with a creative edge and impeccable grammar.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, follow-through, and file management skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with marketing, analytics, and design tools such as Canva, Google Analytics, Klaviyo, and/or Meta Business Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with social media marketing and/or content creation is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Bonus Points For

  • Basic knowledge of SEO, paid media, or influencer partnerships.
  • Experience using CRM or marketing automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI tools to enhance efficiency
  • Passion for mission-driven work and/or familiarity with the first responder community.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility within a small, dynamic marketing team.
