This national holiday program delivers toys to children in 150 cities across the United States, with a focus on families who have lost a first responder parent in the line of duty.

The nationwide campaign to officially designate October 28 “National First Responders Day” got a major boost on Friday when First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF), the organization behind the national effort, requested and received proclamations in favor of the designation from President Joe Biden and 13 governors from around the nation.

In an effort to formally designate October 28th “National First Responders Day,” dozens of police officers, firefighters, nurses, EMTs and other first responder professionals from across America joined the First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF) at a Times Square ceremony and news conference Friday to help make official the national day of recognition.

The daughter of 9/11 firefighter hero Frank Timpone was whisked onto the stage of Radio City Music Hall Thursday night alongside the famed Rockettes and presented with a giant $5,0000 college scholarship check from Hallmark and First Responders Children’s Foundation.

FRCF in partnership with SERVPRO today announced a Hurricane Ian Disaster Response Fund that will provide timely Disaster Response Grants to first responder families enduring financial hardship due to devastation from Hurricane Ian.

The CSX Pride in Service Scholarships have been awarded to children of first responders in communities where the company operates, including a total of 192 scholars in 26 states. Each scholar is awarded a grant for a single academic year.

First Responders Children’s Foundation to officially launch its Resiliency Program, a mental health program designed to support the children of first responders, in California. The foundation will also be presenting awards to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Malibu Search & Rescue, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Scholarships have been awarded to children whose parents have been killed or injured in the line of duty or have a financial hardship, including the children of 9/11 first responders whose parents made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11, died from 9/11 illnesses or continue to suffer from 9/11-related illnesses.
