We are dedicated to honoring the sacrifice of the entire family.
Our programs aim to honor the legacy of the heroic first who responded on September 11, 2001. We empower our students to pursue their dreams, contribute to society, and, in some cases, follow in their parents’ footsteps by becoming first responders themselves.
Gianna Timpone
Gianna is the daughter of 9/11 hero Frank Timpone, a New York City Fire Department firefighter, who bravely participated in recovery efforts on and after 9/11 and as a result was injured in the line of duty. While we can never repay him for his service, we are honored to play a part of his daughter’s next chapter to help her realize her dreams.
Gianna is a junior at Manhattanville College studying business and dance. Her dream is to become a Radio City Rockette!
Thomas Caputo
Thomas Caputo, First Responders Children’s Foundation Scholarship Recipient describes his grandfather New York City Fire Department Battalion Chief Thomas DeAngelis and uncle Battalion Chief Edward Geraghty. Both heroes responded to the attacks of 9/11 and were in the South Tower when it collapsed. Thomas is studying at Villanova University as a recipient from of our scholarship program aimed at helping children who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
Samantha Switzer
When her FDNY firefighter father William Switzer died from 9/11-related illness, Samantha was working three jobs and trying to finish college. With a scholarship from First Responders Children’s Foundation, Samantha was able to realize her dream of becoming a nurse. Now Samantha is saving lives just like her father did.
